The Atomos Ninja Ultra is a next-generation 5.2" on-camera HDR monitor and recorder, designed to bring professional 4K and 8K workflows to any production. Its compact, low-profile chassis retains the familiar Ninja form factor, ensuring seamless compatibility with existing Atomos accessories and rig setups. With an updated AtomOS 11 operating system, the Ninja Ultra unlocks an intuitive interface and powerful monitoring and recording features tailored for today’s mirrorless, cinema, and broadcast cameras.
At the core of the Ninja Ultra is a 5.2" SuperAtom IPS touchscreen panel with 1920 x 1080 resolution and 10-bit (8+2 FRC) color processing. Pushing up to 1000 cd/m² peak brightness, the AtomHDR engine faithfully renders over 10 stops of dynamic range in Log/PQ/HLG formats, while Calibrite Display Pro/Plus calibration and full Rec.709 support ensure color-accurate confidence monitoring—even under direct sunlight.
Powered by AtomOS 11, the Ninja Ultra delivers an array of professional assist tools at your fingertips: Focus Peaking, Waveform, RGB Parade, Vectorscope, Histogram, False Color, Pixel-level Zoom, Anamorphic De-squeeze, Frame Guides, Safe Areas, EL Zone exposure, RecordAssist, PlayBackAssist, SegmentPro, Cine Guides, and more. Onboard recording is triggered directly from HDMI, with support for auto HDMI camera triggers on Canon and Sony models, plus optional Bluetooth and LANC remote control via the Atomos Connect module.
Recording capabilities span DCI 4K 60 fps HDMI input/output and ProRes RAW up to 8K 30 fps with compatible cameras—delivering pristine RAW masters ready for post-production. Over 55 cameras are supported for RAW recording, and Ninja Ultra can record Apple ProRes, ProRes RAW, Avid DNxHD/HR, and H.265 codecs without additional license fees. Simultaneous proxy recording to HD H.265 streamlines camera-to-cloud and editorial workflows.
Connectivity is future-proof thanks to HDMI 2.0 in/out, a locking USB-C PD port (30W) for power and firmware updates, and an AtomX expansion port for optional Atomos Connect (Wi-Fi 6E, 1 GbE, AirGlu™ timecode sync, SDI) or AtomX Cast (multi-camera HDMI switching and UVC webcam output). A bright tally light, headphone jack, and 3.5mm audio I/O complete the I/O set, making Ninja Ultra a centralized hub for capture, monitoring, and live streaming.
Power options include an L-series battery plate with hot-swap capability or USB-C power delivery from 6.2 V–16.8 V sources. The unit’s lightweight 0.79 lb (12.7 oz) chassis measures 5.94" x 3.60" x 1.22" and features anti-rotation ⅜"-16 and ¼"-20 mounts top and bottom for secure rig integration.
