The Atomos Sun Dragon is the world's first sun-spectrum, HDR-capable LED rope light, engineered for professional cinema, broadcast, and photographic production. Stretching 16 feet in length, this flexible strip of 5-color (RGBAW) LEDs delivers a true daylight spectrum that faithfully reproduces natural light without post-production correction. Housed in an aircraft-grade aluminum shell and milled for strength, the Sun Dragon bends where fixed fixtures can’t, unlocking creative lighting possibilities on any set.
Boasting 2,000 lumens of punchy, end-to-end brightness (for the non-diffused version) and a high-density LED arrangement, the Sun Dragon renders over 10 stops of dynamic range with near-sunlight fidelity. Its advanced RGBAW array and precision electronic mixing achieve a CRI of 97 and a TLCI of 96, ensuring skin tones, fabrics, and scenic elements appear truly lifelike under any conditions. A 30% diffused model offers softer illumination without sacrificing color accuracy.
Built to endure the elements, the Sun Dragon carries an IP68 rating for dust and waterproof protection up to 1 meter depth—so rain, spills, and spray pose no threat. Despite its ruggedness, it remains lightweight at just 2.2 pounds, and its 1-foot bend radius lets you coil, twist, or contour the rope light to sculpt reflections, wrap around surfaces, or form panels and spirals on the fly. Deploy it indoors, outdoors, or even underwater for striking effects.
Precision control is at your fingertips via the included DMX controller, or remotely through Art-Net, sACN, Bluetooth, and AirGlu systems. Six onboard function buttons provide instant access to modes like gel emulation, hue/saturation/intensity adjustment, and XY color coordinates, while the large display ensures clear readouts in bright environments. Save and recall custom presets to streamline scene changes during fast-paced shoots.
Power flexibility comes standard with the Atomos Sun Dragon: mount a V-lock battery plate to run on NP-F, V-lock, or 12 V DC sources, or connect directly to AC mains via the supplied power brick. With just 80 W consumption, the Sun Dragon balances efficiency and output for marathon production days.
