The Blackmagic Design 2110 IP Converter 3x 3G-SDI is a device designed to enable the integration of any 3G-SDI equipment into 2110 IP broadcast systems. Its rack-mountable design allows it to be installed in equipment racks alongside the equipment that users are converting. With the Universal Rack Shelf, users can install up to three Blackmagic 2110 IP Converter 3x3G units side by side, providing a total of nine separate input and output channels in a single rack unit. The converters can also be remotely managed over Ethernet.

This converter is a convenient alternative to using numerous mini converters, as it includes a front panel with an LCD screen that allows users to change settings at any time. The LCD also allows live video monitoring of all input and output channels and includes network diagnostics tools to help diagnose problems in complex 2110 IP broadcast systems. Additionally, the converters come with active fan-based cooling to prevent overheating, even when mounted side by side in a rack. For added redundancy, users have the option to use both AC and PoE+ Ethernet power.

The Blackmagic Design 2110 IP Converter 3x3G features three 3G-SDI outputs and three 3G-SDI inputs with loop outputs. Furthermore, the 10G Ethernet connection supports three input and three output channels simultaneously, and the channels are independent, allowing for completely different video standards. Each 3G-SDI input includes re-sync, enabling users to connect any SDI source and have the input video re-timed to the 2110 PTP clock automatically. There's also a reference output, which users can use to lock external SDI equipment to the 2110 PTP clock if they prefer not to use the re-sync function.

The Blackmagic 2110 IP Converter 3x 3G-SDI conforms to the SMPTE ST2110 standard for IP video, which specifies the transport, synchronization, and description of video, audio, and ancillary data over managed IP networks for broadcast. It also supports multicast, which efficiently distributes video, audio, and data from a single source to multiple destinations. Moreover, it supports the NMOS interface specifications, allowing all 2110 IP video devices to operate together as a large virtual router.

Remote administration of the equipment is critical for diagnosing problems, changing settings, and upgrading software in large broadcast systems. The Blackmagic Converter Utility can be downloaded free of charge, enabling users to update the converter software and change settings. It's available on both Mac and Windows, and the software can be connected directly to the USB port on the front panel or remotely via the Ethernet connection and IP network.

The Blackmagic 2110 IP Converter 3x 3G-SDI's connections support both SD and HD video standards, making it ideal for connecting existing SDI broadcast equipment to new IP-based infrastructure. It supports 525i59.94 and 625i50 standards for standard definition and all 720p, 1080 interlaced, and 1080p standards for high definition. Each converter channel switches instantly to a new video standard, independent of each other, enabling users to run three different video standards simultaneously.
