The Blackmagic PYXIS 6K is a next-generation digital film camera featuring a versatile box or cube design, allowing you to rig the perfect camera for your production. It boasts a massive 36 x 24mm 6K sensor with 13 stops of dynamic range and dual CFexpress media recorders, all housed in a customizable body. This model comes with L-Mount lens mounts.
Robust and Flexible Construction
The PYXIS 6K's body is crafted from precision CNC machined aerospace aluminum, making it lightweight yet extremely strong. With multiple mounting points and accessory side plates, you can easily configure the camera to meet your needs, whether on cranes, gimbals, or drones. The top and bottom of the body feature multiple 1/4" and 3/8" thread mounts, and additional side plates allow for mounting accessories such as handles, microphones, or SSDs.
Impressive Sensor and Image Quality
Featuring a massive full-frame sensor with a native resolution of 6048 x 4032, the PYXIS 6K offers nearly three times the area of a Super 35 sensor. This allows for shooting with a shallow depth of field and using anamorphic lenses without cropping, providing a true cinematic look. The 13 stops of dynamic range and dual native ISO up to 25,600 ensure stunning low-noise images in any lighting condition.
Versatile Recording Capabilities
The PYXIS 6K supports all standard resolutions and frame rates from HD up to DCI 4K and 6K. It can shoot stills at 24.6 megapixels and record up to 36 fps at 6048 x 4032 3:2 open gate or 60 fps at 6048 x 2520 2.4:1 and 4096 x 2160 4K DCI. For higher frame rates, it can window the sensor and shoot up to 100 fps at 2112 x 1184 Super 16.
Integrated Monitoring and Control
The built-in 4" high-resolution HDR touchscreen serves as a monitor and a focus assist station. This full HD display allows you to frame and focus shots without needing an external monitor. The PYXIS 6K also features logical design controls for ISO, WB, and shutter, accessible via both touchscreen and physical buttons, including three customizable function buttons for quick access to essential commands.
Advanced Connectivity and Media Handling
The camera includes a built-in hardware streaming engine supporting RTMP and SRT streaming to platforms like YouTube and Facebook. For internet access, it offers options for Ethernet or connecting a 4G/5G phone. The dual CFexpress card recorders and a USB-C expansion port allow recording directly to external flash media or SSDs. The camera also records HD H.264 proxies in real time for easy media sharing.
Enhanced Accessories and Compatibility
The PYXIS 6K is compatible with a wide range of L-Mount lenses, including full-frame lenses from Leica, Panasonic, and Sigma, as well as various lens adapters. The optional Blackmagic URSA Cine EVF provides accurate and easy outdoor and handheld shooting with a high-quality 1920 x 1080 color OLED display and a 4-element glass diopter.
